Crunchyroll will release the third season of Classroom of the Elite in January 2024.
Crunchyroll announced Classroom of the Elite Season 3's release schedule via its official website following an official reveal at New York Comic Con. The series is directed by Hiroyuki Hashimoto, Seiji Kishi and Yoshihito Nishoji for Studio Hibari's Lerche (Toilet-bound Hanako-kun, Given), with series composition by Hayato Kazano and character designs by Kazuaki Morita.
Shogo Kinugasa and Sunsaku Tomose created the light novel series that Classroom of the Elite adapts. Crunchyroll's description of the series reads, "Kiyotaka Ayanokoji has just enrolled at Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, where it's said that 100% of students go on to college or find employment. But he ends up in Class 1-D, which is full of all the school's problem children. What's more, every month, the school awards students points with a cash value of 100,000 yen, and the classes employ a laissez-faire policy in which talking, sleeping, and even sabotage are permitted during class. One month later, Ayanokoji, Horikita, and the students of Class D learn the truth of the system in place within their school."
Classroom of the Elite Season 2's positive reception led to the announcement of a third installment in February 2022, just a few weeks after the show had wrapped. With Hashimoto returning to direct, Classroom of the Elite Season 3 was reportedly unable to premiere in 2023 as expected due to various circumstances.
The Plot of Classroom of the Elite
Classroom of the Elite is set in a highly prestigious academic institution called the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School. The unique school, located on a luxury island, only admits the most talented and exceptional of students who exhibit outstanding academic and extracurricular abilities. Students who survive the school are assured of getting into their desired university while increasing their prospects of attaining high-paying employment.
Classroom of the Elite's story revolves around Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, a typical tsundere who enters the school and attempts to keep a low profile. Kiyotaka embodies the brooding, handsome male anime series lead but intentionally admits himself to the lowest-ranking class. In Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, students attempt to climb the hierarchy at any cost. They are even allowed to sabotage fellow students in this pursuit to win award points -- the equivalent of money on the island.
Classroom of the Elite Season 3 premieres in January 2024.
