Some anime characters are so charming that fans want to know as much about them as possible. It's helpful to have some extra identifying criteria to help paint a picture for fan works. Zodiac signs, especially, can say a lot about a character's personality.

Whether or not a zodiac sign is a good way to take someone's measure in real life, they're generally a conscious choice by the author for fictional characters. They chose a specific birthday for that character, and often they match a lot of their zodiac sign's traditional qualities. It really helps bring that character to life in the minds of fans who can't help but crush on them.

10 Victor (Yuri!!! On ICE)

Victor Nikiforov extending his arm as he skates forward at the beginning of Yuri!!! On Ice.

Victor is an incredibly accomplished figure skater in Yuri!!! On ICE, and he sweeps Yuri and audiences off their feet. He seems like a very serious guy on the surface, but he's actually rather flirtatious. He also can be pretty direct about what he wants.

Victor is just under six feet, at 5'11," and he has a commanding presence on the ice. He was born on Christmas, December 25th, 1989, making him a Capricorn. He embodies the hard work and clear sight Capricorns are said to have. He's such an accomplished athlete that he makes a great coach, too.

9 Jonathan Joestar (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)

Jonathan and Erina in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

No one sets the tone for the heroes to follow in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure quite like Jonathan Joestar. He's the blueprint for a gentleman and a jock. The first story arc takes great care to show that he's not just strong of body, but strong of heart, too.

Jonathan Joestar is a staggering 6'5", a few inches taller than Dio (in "Phantom Blood"). He was born April 4, 1868, which makes him an Aries as well as a Victorian gentleman. Aries are known for their fiery energy. If they're funny, they tend to be the engaging class clowns. The zodiac sign makes perfect sense with Jonathan's golden retriever energy.

8 Kyo Sohma (Fruits Basket)

Tohru Honda And Kyo Sohma Smiling Together in Fruits Basket

Kyo Sohma is the primary love interest in Fruits Basket, and a classic tsundere. He would rather fight than show his feelings, though he does do a good job on that front over the course of the series. He may have a terrible temper, but he also has a great capacity for empathy and focused effort.

Kyo is a protective guy with great fighting techniques, and a protective nature. His willowy frame reaches 5'7". He may represent the Cat quite literally, but he was actually born in the year of the Boar on January 15th, which also makes him a Capricorn. Being a Capricorn explains his no-nonsense approach and his concentration when it comes to training.

7 Yamada (My Love Story With Yamada-kun At Lv999)

Akito Yamada holding a white shoe from My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999

Yamada of My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 is the ultimate kuudere. He is a very serious, soft-spoken guy who doesn't tolerate much silliness. But though he's a total frigid ice prince on the surface, beneath the facade he thinks and feels very deeply and acts on noble impulses.

Yamada is a Virgo, born on September 21st – which often ends up being the autumn equinox. As such, he's incredibly fair-minded and thinks things through before he makes big moves. Virgos care a lot about order and details. And while his exact height isn't known, it's surmised that he's over 6-foot.

6 Nanami (Jujustu Kaisen)

kento nanami in the jujutsu kaisen anime

Nanami may be more lean in the manga, but not so in the recent anime installment of Jujutsu Kaisen. Nanami is a very quiet and serious guy. He's every bit the reserved gentleman who has no problem taking charge when need be.

Officially, Nanami is listed as just over 6-foot. He was born July 3rd,1990, which makes him a Cancer. It's very interesting that he's a Cancerean, who are best known for their emotions and intuition. It seems to underline the more downplayed (yet most important) part of his personality – his compassionate, respectful, protective side.

5 Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop)

Spike takes a break in Cowboy Bebop.

Spike Spiegel embodies the sassy and reluctant hero type in Cowboy Bebop. He's a true desperado in space, and he has the smoking habit and crumpled, tailor suit to prove it. He's a rather lithe guy, and his wild thatch of hair makes him look even taller than his actual 6'1" height.

Spike was born June 26th, 2044, which makes him another Cancer man. It's also an interesting zodiac choice for him, because he takes such great pains to hide and play off his feelings, obscuring them behind a smokescreen of sarcasm and indifference. He's not very successful, though, because his heart is his great weakness.

4 Tuxedo Mask (Sailor Moon)

Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon

Sailor Moon's Tuxedo Mask is one of the greatest and most beloved shojo love interests. He's emotionally aware, especially in the manga and Sailor Moon Crystal, and he's very encouraging. He's the kind of nurturing guy who's happy to play a support role.

Tuxeod Mask is always depicted as the tallest compared to the Senshi and the Shitennou, and his actual height on the Season 1 anime notes is 6'2". Interestingly, he's noted to be shorter in later seasons. It doesn't really matter, though, as Tuxedo Mask can wear a tux, tails, a cape, and armor with swagger at whatever height. He was born August 3rd, making him a Leo.

3 Renji (Bleach)

renji and rukia in the bleach anime

Renji's facial expressions in Bleach may be limited to scowls and smirks, but he's incredibly altruistic, especially when it comes to the people he loves. He's just as likely to lecture a person who he thinks should be pushing themselves harder as he is to suppress his own feelings for others' benefit. He's also incredibly ambitious.

Renji is 6'2", which is mildly hilarious as he ends up with a love interest who's as stubborn as she is petite. They are the perfect sort of black cat/golden retriever combination. Renji was born August 31, making him a Virgo.

2 Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Gojo looks suave and fashionable in a segment of

Part of why people love Gojo so much in Jujutsu Kaisen is because he's so covertly selfless and compassionate. He does difficult things because it's the right thing to do. He wants the students to have at least a bit of what he never got as a younger person, and that takes a lot of sacrifice.

Gojo is on the taller side for anime husbandos, at 6'3". He was born December 7, 1989, which makes him a Sagittarius. He totally embodies a Sagittarius' idealism and willingness for adventure. He's also prideful, which is to be expected from a Sagittarius.

1 Howl Pendragon (Howl's Moving Castle)

Howl from Howl's Moving Castle smiling with his hair flowing

Author Diana Wynne Jones describes Howl Jenkins Pendragon as "tall" in Howl's Moving Castle, but there are no official height numbers. It makes sense because as a wizard, he tends to manipulate his face, hair, and figure quite a bit. But tall seems to be a common feature in whatever form he takes.

He has a reputation for being inconstant, but Howl hides his abiding heart behind the rumors and flings. And he does start out as a cowardly wizard, but that changes once he finds something – someone – he wants to protect. Howl is an Aquarius, born February 5th. Like many Aquarians, is incredibly creative and extreme with his art, emotions, and life decisions.
