The Marvels secures an official rating ahead of its release, though how long audiences will have to sit in theaters to watch it when it premieres remains up in the air amid conflicting reports.

Per FilmRatings.com, the Captain Marvel sequel gets an unsurprising PG-13 rating, much like the original movie. However, the runtime for The Marvels isn't as sure as yet, with multiple cinemas advertising different runtimes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe title. According to Screen Rant, Odeon has plugged The Marvels with a runtime of 2 hours and 20 minutes while Cineworld has the film listed at exactly 2 hours.

The above-mentioned runtimes are significantly longer than the one indicated by insider, Cryptic HD Quality, who has successfully predicted the length of several previous Disney entries. Cryptic HD Quality claimed on social media the runtime is actually 1 hour and 33 minutes, making it the shortest MCU movie ever, if true. The joint record holders for the shortest MCU titles ever are 2008's The Incredible Hulk and 2013's Thor: The Dark World, each boasting a runtime of 1 hour and 52 minutes.

The Marvels sees Brie Larson make her return as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel alongside Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) and Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel) as the trio try to figure out why their powers are constantly entangled while investigating a wormhole linked to the Kree. Directed by Nia Dacosta, The Marvels has been hyped up as a "silly" sequel meant to combat superhero fatigue. The Marvels also sees Samuel L. Jackson return as ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, with the events of Secret Invasion setting up the movie.

Disney spent big on The Marvels, with the movie costing a net of $219.8 million to make after receiving a $55 million subsidy for filming in the United Kingdom. The anticipated sequel is the least expensive MCU effort since 2015's Ant-Man. Amid the anticipation, there have been a few small controversies deliberated by fans, from the revelation of Carol Danvers' age to Carol's face looking slightly different in promotional images for the film. However, DaCosta has expressed the movie has been receiving positive feedback ahead of its debut.

The MCU's Phase Five Continues With The Marvels

The Marvels is the latest Phase 5 movie to premiere this year, following Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While Marvel moved back much of its upcoming movie slate due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, The Marvels maintained its original premiere date and recently debuted its IMAX trailer.

The Marvels opens in theaters across North America on Nov. 10.
